Summary

This session aims to bring together biologists, ecologists, micropaleontologists and paleoceanographers investigating the population dynamics, ecological preferences and biomineralisation of modern and fossil planktic foraminifers, focusing on processes that are relevant for the development and application of foraminifera-based proxies. Contributions are invited on all aspects of physical or chemical proxy calibration, validation and application, production and dissolution of test calcite, modeling approaches and new technology in foraminifera analyses. Studies bridging the gap between recent and fossil applications and investigations from various habitats ranging from open marine to marginal environments are particularly welcome.
